During the Estimates Debate this afternoon, Senior Minister with responsibility for Infrastructure Dr. William Duguid questioned if the Welfare Department is making headway in getting more landlords to rent to its clients.
Chief Welfare Officer Deborah Norville in response says they are over overwhelmed with requests for rental assistance, with 1,142 applications last year.
However, the rental saga which the Department finds itself in is being remedied according to Minister Corey Lane.
Joining via Zoom, he spoke about the use of escrow agents since the Department has no officers dedicated to looking for rentals.
