The Democratic Labour Party has a new President.
Political newcomer, Dr. Ronnie Yearwood beat out a challenge from former MP for St. Philip West, Dr. David Estwick.
He secured 273 votes to Dr. Estwick’s 205.
The new DLP President will be inaugurated during a ceremony on Friday.
Commenting on the development, political analyst Peter Wickham says the DLP is sending a clear message that it wants to turn a new page.
While congratulating Dr. Yearwood, Mr. Wickham told CBC News the DLP has rejected the old guard.
