1st cannabis consumption lounge opens in St. Vincent & the Grenadines

May 7th, 2022

St. Vincent & the Grenadines’ 1st cannabis consumption lounge opened yesterday at the Coconut Grove Beach Club.

At the lounge, people can obtain permits to buy cannabis products for a year, following an onsite consultation with a physician. General Manager of medical marijuana company Medicinal, Marie Helene Tremblay says the lounge, Greenhouse Café, is the 1st of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean.

Tremblay says her company decided to conduct a clinic during the launch to enable easier access to cannabis. Therefore, the company invited top medical officials to do consultations with patients.

She says once the patient has a prescription for medicinal cannabis, they can visit the Medicinal Cannabis Authority to obtain a cannabis ID card, that is valid for a year in St. Vincent. “Once they have their ID card, they can come and purchase their products here directly at our dispensary and consume as well here while enjoying the night in front of the beach,” Tremblay says.

At the dispensary, patients can purchase products ranging from an EC$15 “THC pre-roll” to a 1,500 ml THC Tincture for EC$200. Other available products include CDB Lotion and CDB Vapes.

One of the medical officials who did consultations at the launch, Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Jose Davy, says most of the patients she saw complained of chronic pain.
