Flash Flood Watch in effect

This alert is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) could result in flash
flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible.

A tropical wave is presently affecting the island and is currently generating some occasional light to moderate showers across the island.

Maximum rainfall accumulations of 25.0 to 50.0 mm in heavy showers during the late morning and into the afternoon are likely. In
addition, gusty winds associated with this shower activity are expected particularly during this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Warning could be issued later today and at short notice. The public is advised to monitor the situation closely with the BMS.

Residents and visitors should be prepared for strong runoff from higher elevations. Soil erosion is likely on bared or scarred land surfaces. Debris such as small rocks, mud, and tree foliage could end up on roads and property. Traffic delays are likely. Flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads is possible.

This alert message is valid from 10:20 a.m. Today, Monday, July 3, 2023, and will be updated at 6:00 p.m. or sooner if conditions
