The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of an area of interest in the tropical Atlantic and Tropical Depression #20.
However, the public is advised that no watches or warnings related to these systems are in effect at this time.
As it relates to the area of interest, the BMS says the broad area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic has weakened over the past 24 hours. The system remains disorganized and the possibility of tropical cyclone development will remain low over the next few days, as it encounters an unfavourable environment as it tracks west-northwestward.
Meanwhile another area of interest has developed into Tropical Depression #20, which was located near 8.3N 24.6W at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 29th, 2021. This system has become better organized over the past 12 hours and tropical cyclone development is likely as the system tracks west-northwestward.
A gradual turn towards the northwest is expected over the next few days, and based on this track, this system is not likely to pose any threat to the island.
The BMS says this will be the final statement on these systems.
However, it has advised the public to continue to monitor official sources for daily updates and remain prepared throughout the remainder of the hurricane season.
