Met Office issues small craft and high surf advisories

February 10th, 2022

Small-craft and high-surf advisories are in effect for Barbados for above normal swell heights.

Surface winds of 20 knots and greater across the tropical Atlantic are forecast to generate moderate to rough sea swells ranging from 2.0m to 3.0m (7 to 10 ft.) along Barbados’ northern, north-eastern, and eastern coasts on Friday, 11th February 2022.

All marine craft operators and beachgoers should note the following possibilities along the coast and near shore of this zone, due to the imminent marine threat: Large open water swells can be hazardous to some vessels, operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times due to large swells, some beach erosion is inevitable with most or all beaches submerged particularly below he cliffs and specifically at times of high tide, possible loss of life or injury.

This alert message is valid from 6 AM, Friday, 11th February 2022 and will be TERMINATED at 6 PM Friday, 11th February 2022.
