The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of an elongated area of low pressure located in the central Atlantic near 11N 47W.
The system remains small and disorganized with an exposed low-level center to the northeast of limited deep convection. Environmental conditions are not conducive for this feature to develop into a tropical depression at this time.
Regardless of development, this system is expected to track westward and move across Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on Tuesday. There are currently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados.
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages over the coming days for updates.
The information statement will be updated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2023, or sooner if conditions warrant.
