Stoute streak of dominance continues

Barbados’ medal tally at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in The Bahamas now stands at 21.

Competing at the Betty Kelly-Kenning Aquatic Centre, Heidi Stoute continued her dominance in the 13-14 age group with a gold medal and CARIFTA record in the 1500-meter freestyle in a time of 18 minutes 08.07 seconds.

Meanwhile, Miheal Sobers took the bronze this evening in the 200-meter I.M. in 2 minutes 33.65 seconds.

Jaiya Simmons in lane five in the girls’ 13-14 400 meter i.m at the Betty Kelly-Kenning Aquatic Centre.

Simmons clocked five minutes; and 20.73 seconds.

Simmons then added silver in the girls 13-14 50m butterfly.

Also stepping on the medal podium again last night, was Michale Sobers who added silver in the boy’s 11-12 100-metre backstroke.

Kaija Eastmond took silver in the 50m butterfly.

Barbados won two relay silver medals when the girls 11-12 team of Eastmond, Aliyah Greaves, Saniya Minnis and Jada Pounder finished second in the four-by-100 medley relay,

Barbados was also 2nd in the girls’ 13-14 medley with Kaitlin Balgobin, Amiya Harrison, Simmons and Heidi Stoute.
