It’s even-stevens between Barbados and hosts Jamaica in their Davis Cup World Group Two playoff first round match-up.

Playing at the Eric Bell National Tennis Centre in Kingston this evening, Barbados top seed Darian King fought hard through injury and brought the Bajan team back into the tie, when he defeated Rowland Phillips in the second singles match 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

This came after Barbados lost the opening match when Kaipo Marshall went down to Blaise Bicknell 1-6, 6-3, 1-6.

The tie is now level at one-all and Barbados will be hoping to make it two-one when the doubles take centre stage tomorrow.

King and Haydn Lewis will take on Phillips and Bicknell around midday Barbados time.
