Barbados will not be represented in surfing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
That’s because none of the local competitors participating in the final qualifier in Puerto Rico, made the cut.
Today at the ISA World Surfing Games, the island’s best chance at making it to the Olympic Games, leading female surfer Chelsea Tuach, was eliminated.
Competing in the repechage 5th heat, Tuach ended 25th overall out of 118.
She needed a 3.7 score to re-take second place and advance, but she was only awarded 3.5 to fall 0.2 below the required points.
Fellow Barbadian Chelsea Roett finished 41st.
Meanwhile among the men, the Burke brothers were also eliminated.
Jacob Burke was 37th, and Joshua 46th out of 142.
