BCA honours cricketers

Pacer Kemar Roach was the top awardee when the Barbados Cricket Association held its awards night at Mahogany Ridge.

Roach took the President’s Award as he is now West Indies fifth-highest wicket-taker in test cricket with 270 scalps, behind Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, and Malcolm Marshall Gibbs.

Kycia Knight and Demetrius Richards were the most outstanding female and male cricketers.

The Emerging Youth Female and Male cricketers were Theanny Herbert-Mayers and Nathan Sealy.

While the Most Improved Female and Male cricketers were Erin Deane and Shaquille Cumberbatch.

Special BCA awards also went to Knight and Cumberbatch, with Nathan Sealy receiving the Rising Star Award.

In his feature address, Professor Dwayne Devonish told the awardees and those present, that adopting a positive attitude is needed in everyday life for excellence to emerge.

The BCA has also shown appreciation to its staff for their service of ten to twenty years.
