Ivy residents upset over BCL relocation request

April 29, 2023

A member of the Ivy community has hit back at recent comments that the Barbados Cricket League was seeking to vacate its home ground in the Ivy, St. Michael, due to a number of shooting incidents.

BCL President Glyne St. Hill confirmed that the Board has requested the help of the Minister of Sports, Charles Griffith, to find a new home away from their current location at Blenheim.

It is understood the BCL has asked to be relocated to the Ministry of Transport ground in Pine Basin, but are now awaiting a reply from the Minister.

A resident of the Ivy, Wayne Harewood, says they are hurt by the President’s comments, and explained that the BCL has been part of that community for decades.

He also highlighted the need for improvements to the pavilion.

Speaking to CBC Sports, BCL President St. Hill in response explained the decision to request a move away from their current Ivy base was made a few years ago, and wasn’t recent.
