A lion-hearted performance from tennis player Kaipo Marshall ensured Barbados will stay in Davis Cup World Group II after they defeated hosts Jamaica 3-2 on Sunday.
Marshall dispatched Jamaica’s Rowland Phillips 6-4,1-6, 6-2, after the tie was locked at 2-all.
The rain delayed the inventible after Marshall went up 4-love in the decisive third set and once play resumed he polished off the contest in two hours and 10 minutes of action.
Speaking to CBC Sports Non-Playing Captain Damien Applewaite says it was a great way to end a tough weekend.
