CMC – Barbados Royals Women made light work of a listless Trinbago Knight Riders Women, beating them by six wickets to notch their second win of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League at Kensington Oval on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the St Lucia Kings defeated Barbados Royals by 90 runs in the 16th game of the Caribbean Premier League on Saturday evening.

Scores:

KINGS 195 for six off 20 overs (Johnson Charles 78, Colin Munro 33; Roelof van der Merwe 3-40)

ROYALS 105 off 17.3 overs (Nyeem Young 20; Alzarri Joseph 3-7, Peter Hatzoglou 2-4, Roshon Primus 2-11)

In the Women’s Caribbean Premier League match, an ordinary batting effort saw TKR bundled out for 73 in the 17th over after choosing to bat first at Kensington Oval, and Royals chased down the target in the 11th over with opener Gaby Lewis striking a run-a-ball 27.

Royals Women opened their account on Thursday with a thrilling victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors at the same venue.

At 32 for one in the seventh over, TKR Women appeared set for a competitive total but the innings collapsed spectacularly, with the last nine wickets going down for 41 runs.

Off-spinner Erin Burns was one of the architects of the collapse, claiming three for 19 while fellow Australian, leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington (2-13), and West Indies captain Hayley Matthews (2-16) providing support with two wickets apiece.

In reply, Lewis lashed four fours in a 40-run opening stand with Matthews (19) and even though four wickets tumbled for 20 runs after left-arm spinner Fran Jonas (2-29) struck twice to spark a collapse, Royals remained on course for an easy victory.
