CMC – Guyana Amazon Warriors surged into Sunday’s final of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League when they condemned Trinbago Knight Riders to a third defeat with a resounding nine-wicket verdict on Saturday.

After wiping out TKR for a measly 72 in 17 overs, Amazon Warriors easily romped to their target in the eighth over, to complete a dominant outing at the Brian Lara Stadium.

Opener Sophie Devine 19-ball 38 with three fours and three sixes, posting 38 for the first wicket with fellow New Zealander Suzie Bates who made a run-a-ball 18, before adding a further 40 for the second wicket with captain Stafanie Taylor who lashed an eight-ball unbeaten 17, with two fours and a six.

The win was set up though by Karishma Ramharack, the Trinidadian off-spinner grabbing three for 12 to trigger the home side’s demise, after they had chosen to bat first in the final preliminary game of the women’s tournament.

Captain Deandra Dottin top-scored with 25 from 21 deliveries with two fours and a six, a knock which appeared to be setting TKR up for a decent total at 52 for two in the 10th over.

However, once Kycia Knight (13) and Mignon du Preez (0) fell to successive deliveries in the 10th over, TKR lost their last eight wickets for 20 runs.

Amazon Warriors will take on Barbados Royals in the final at 3:30 p.m. today, Sunday, September 10, 2023.
