Local sporting icons and officials gathered with family and friends at the Wildey Gymnasium this morning for the farewell service of former national basketballer and netballer Shakira Shorey.
Mother, teacher, player, coach, manager, referee and elected officials were some of the roles that gained Shakira ultimate respect, as tributes were presented during an emotional ceremony.
Sports Minister Charles Griffith and BOA President Sandra Osborne were a few that joined the congregation, in remembering the postitive legacy she has left.
Annella Michael shared what she had written for her friend before she passed.
