Barbados records 172 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 172 new COVID-19 cases, 80 males and 92 females, were reported for Saturday, November 20. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1,360 tests.

The new positives comprise 30 people, who are under the age of 18, and 142 who are 18 years and older.

There were 804 people in isolation facilities, and 7,553 in home isolation.

Barbados’ confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, stand at 23,795 (11,392 males and 12,403 females). Four individuals – three males, aged 67, 67, and 83, and one 82-year-old female – succumbed to the viral illness, bringing the number of deaths, as at November 20, to 210.

The public health laboratory has carried out 424,857 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 152,756 (66.9 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 134,530 (49.6 per cent of the total population or 58.9 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those individuals who are 12 years and older.
