Wahlberg owns Barbados Tridents


Hollywood super star Mark Wahlberg is the new owner of the Barbados Tridents.

Wahlberg is an American actor, producer, model and former rapper who is best known for his role in films such as, "The Departed","Ted" and "The Fighter".

CEO of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League, Damien O'Donohoe revealed that after long negotiations, Wahlburg signed onto the franchise earlier Monday, just hours before the Tridents take to the field at Kensington Oval.

The actor, who is a close friend of Chairman of Verus International and founder of the CPL, Ajmal Khan, is expected in the island shortly.

Meanwhile, another international figure is also onboard for the competition. Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group. 

The partnership with Virgin covers the league's six competing franchises as well as making Virgin Atlantic the official airline of the CPL.

Virgin's efforts will also be focused on the Antigua Hawksbills, coached by West Indies cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards, and offering a host of competitions and prizes to help raise the excitement level even further.
