Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Sandra Husbands, says businesses in Barbados must continuously seek to expand their scope beyond the island’s shores, to generate real opportunities and prospects for growth through trade.
She says members of the local accounting fraternity will have to play a key role in helping them to achieve this.
Minister Husbands made the comments as she delivered the feature address on the opening day of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) annual conference, being held virtually throughout this week.
She says businesses will specifically need to be helped in establishing export and investment-based models as part of their growth strategy.
The Minister notes that Government has been playing its part in helping to spur that process by exploring both new and familiar markets.
