Met office update on areas of interest

September 28, 2021

The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of two areas of interest in the tropical Atlantic.

The first area of interest is a broad area of low pressure located near 8N 33W at 2 pm today, Tuesday 28 September 2021, and the second area of interest is located just off the west coast of Africa.

The first area of interest remains disorganized however, conditions are expected to become conducive for tropical cyclone development as these systems continue to track westward to west-northwestward over the next five days. Beyond the five-day forecast period conditions could become unfavorable and impact negatively on the development of the first area of interest near 8N 33W.

The BMS will continue to monitor the progress of both systems over the next few days and highly recommends that the public continues to monitor official sources for daily updates and remain ready throughout the remainder of the hurricane season.

The next update will be at 2 pm tomorrow, Wednesday 29 September 2021 or sooner if conditions warrant.
