A Small Craft and High Surf Advisory is in effect for the island.
This is according to the Barbados Meteorological Services which says as a consequence, above normal sea swell heights of 8 to 10 feet are forecast to affect the marine area.
The Met Office adds breaking wave action, which can pose a threat to life and property within the surf zone, is also expected within the next 36 hours.
It says strong surface winds associated with the Atlantic high-pressure system are expected to result in a deterioration of sea swells from tomorrow night until Sunday.
Met officials says due to the imminent or already occurring marine threat, marine users should stay close to the shore, particularly if GPS is not in use on the vessel.
