Dominica’s National Security Minister, Rayburn Blackmoore, today urged police “to descend on every suspected area” where they believe a 12 year old girl is being held after she was abducted from her home last night.
Police say Kernisha Etienne was abducted from her home in Belles, a small village on the western coast of the island, at around 11.30 p.m. (local time) by “suspected lunatic”, Kian Alexander.
They say that before the abduction, Alexander had gone to the home of his uncle Laurent Joseph Bruno and attacked him with a cutlass, inflicting serious wounds to his head and face.
He then abducted Kernisha, the adopted daughter of Bruno, and disappeared with her into the bushes of Warner.
The injured Bruno was transported in a conscious state to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) for medical attention.
Minister Blackmoore, who is also the parliamentary representative for the area, says he is praying “for God’s intervention on this matter,” adding “it is a very sad and unfortunate situation”.
