Former Deputy Prime Minister of Barbados and Women’s Rights Advocate, Dame Billie Miller has been bestowed the Caribbean Community’s highest honour – The Order Of The Caribbean Community.

The award was officially presented during Sunday’s opening ceremony of the 43rd Heads of Government meeting in Suriname.

Dame Billie, who joined the proceedings virtually, received a standing ovation.

Dame Billie watched the proceedings virtually.

The award was accepted by Barbados Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Dr The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott.

He expressed gratitude on her behalf.

Trinidad and Tobago music icon, David Rudder; Antigua and Barbuda’s cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards; and former CARICOM Secretary-general, Irwin La Rocque, also received the award.

This year mark’s the first time it has been awarded since 2012.
