Barbadians are being told to be very vigilant and security conscious this yuletide season.
The advice from Criminologist Kim Ramsay following a robbery at Wilson Hill in St. John in which a woman’s car was stolen.
Police reports indicate that the woman was entering her vehicle around 6:15 last night when she was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
The men took her handbag, cell phone and car. She was not harmed.
Ms. Ramsay says while the Christmas period is always one for heightened possibilities of the criminal element, Barbadians should be even more alert this year because of the economic aftershocks resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Criminologist says Barbadians must remember the basics like being careful with cash and being vigilant when they leave home.
