Member of Parliament for St. James North, Edmund Hinkson, has called attention to the absence of benefits, including health insurance, afforded to Parliamentarians as compared to other Caribbean jurisdictions.
He says politicians are at fault for not explaining the full gambit of what MPs are called to do, and he dispelled the notion that Barbadian politicians receive big salaries.
Mr Hinkson drew examples from fellow CARICOM states where he says funds are provided directly to MPs for their constituents.
