The man who died in a house fire today in the north of the island has been identified as 97-year-old Keith Michael Vancooten.
He lived in the same house, which brunt down at Mount Johnson, near Josey Hill, St. Lucy.
Police Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss said, earlier today, eight fire officers responded and put out the fire, once the alarm was raised about 1:00 p.m.
However, the pensioner was unable to get out of his home before the flames engulfed it, destroying the wood and wall property.
Police have started an unnatural death investigation, while fire officers are probing the cause of the blaze.
