A local information technology expert says while international law enforcement has been able to bust a few major cyber criminals in recent times, individual Barbadians will still have to start paying more serious attention to their own personal cybersecurity when using their various devices.
In an interview with CBC News, Steven Williams says while some cyber criminal rings will be busted from time to time, more will eventually emerge to replace them because cybercrime continues to generate billions of dollars for criminals globally.
His comments follow the recent busting of the well-known Genesis Group, which was notorious for its exploits in identity theft.
Mr. Williams adds that technology companies are coming up with improved solutions to help individuals have at least one effective layer of defence to protect themselves.
