Barbados records 412 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 412 positive COVID-19 cases were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from the 1,988 tests carried out on Saturday, January 15.  Of those cases 227 are females and 185 are males.

Of the 412 cases recorded, 70 people in were under the age of 18, while 342 were 18 years and older. A total of 105 people are in isolation facilities, and in-home isolation, 5,217.

The public health laboratory has conducted 502,240 tests since February 2020, and recorded 35,373 COVID-19 cases (16,505 males and 18,868 females).  The deaths from the viral illness remain at 269, as no deaths were recorded on January 15.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 157,495 (69 per cent of the eligible population). 

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 145,896 (53.8 per cent of the total population or 63.9 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those individuals who are 12 years and older.
