2 houses destroyed by fire, 3 others damaged

2 houses were destroyed in a fire in Eastmond Land, Brittons Hill, St. Michael, which occurred around 2:30 this afternoon.

Police say one of the dwellings – a one bedroom wooden house – was owned by 84 year old Velda Payne. The other – a 2 bedroom wooden house – was owned by 52 year old Junior Williams.

3 other houses were also damaged in the fire.

Two fire tenders under the command of Division Officer Mayers, Station Officers Bourne and Cadogan and 12 fire officers responded and extinguished the blaze.
