THE AIDAperla made its promised return to Barbados yesterday with approximately 1600 passengers.
The vessel was one that was docked in our waters last year when the COVID-19 pandemic forced global ports to close, ultimately turning away many ships.
Barbados also became a transshipment point for the stranded passengers and crew to get home.
Tourism Minister Senator Lisa Cummins, Maritime Affairs Minister Kirk Humphrey and other officials greeted the crew and guests aboard with the AIDAperla Welcome Back extravaganza.
Captain Boris Becker said they’re grateful and happy to be here.
