Barbados records new daily high of 445 cases

Barbados has reached a new high in daily COVID-19 cases.

445 people – 229 males and 216 females – tested positive yesterday October 25th, out of the 2,223 tests conducted.

The new positives consist of 87 people who are under the age of 18, and 358 who are 18 years and older.

There are 768 people in isolation facilities, and 4,693 in home isolation.

Barbados has recorded 16,033 confirmed cases (7,776 males and 8,257 females) of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

The public health laboratory carried out a total of 378,335 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 147,436 (64.6 per cent of the eligible population). A total of 122,666 people (45.3 per cent of the total population or 53.7 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second doses and are fully vaccinated.

The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
