BUT awaiting word from members

January 9, 2023

The Barbados Union of Teachers is awaiting word from members on whether they are satisfied with the conditions at several schools, as teachers resume work today.

That is according to the Deputy General Secretary of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Asha Yearwood.

She says of particular concern is St Boniface Nursery, which was undergoing remedial work and security issues at Belmont Primary.

The persistent odour at the Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School is also a burning issue for the union.

When children return to classrooms tomorrow, it will no longer be mandatory for them to wear masks.

Ms Yearwood says they are mixed feelings among teachers about the relaxation of this protocol.
