There’s a COVID-19 outbreak aboard a cruise ship docked at the Bridgetown Port.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed that about 40 passengers on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Explorer of the Seas have contracted the virus.
News reports also indicate the ship was refused permission to dock by officials in St. Lucia.
According to the sources, some frontline workers in the Port here have been told to double mask to protect themselves.
The individuals identified as COVID-19 positive are not being allowed to leave the ship.
Meanwhile some passengers are reportedly upset about being told they cannot leave the ship, unless they have a pre-booked tour.
Our News team has reached out to the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association for a comment about the situation.
A senior official is currently looking into the matter.
