Homeless women a worry

There are concerns about a growing number of young people and women in need of assistance with food and shelter from philanthropist, Sharon Bellamy-Thompson.

She describes it as a worrying trend, especially in the lead up to Christmas.

CBC News caught up with the founder of the Fisher’s of Men charity as she continues her feeding drive, teaming up with Kiwanis Club benevolence yet again to cater to scores of people in Jubilee Gardens in The City.

Ms. Bellamy-Thompson says the growing numbers supports her call for assistance in getting a shelter up and running, an effort which she says will help to get more of the homeless off the streets.

The benefactor is also appealing for support for her annual Christmas extravaganza for children on Boxing Day.

It will be a welcomed return after being removed from the annual calendar for the past two years due to the covid-19 pandemic.
