Opposition Leader not in agreement with election timing

December 28th, 2021

Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley does not agree with the timing of Barbados’ upcoming general elections.

During a press conference this afternoon, he questioned what’s the rush for the polls a year and and a half before they are constitutionally due.

Bishop Atherley calls the move callous and reckless noting the country is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

He says he is maintaining a similar position to the one he held for the 2020 St. George North by-elections.

That press conference was attended by four other PDP members who will be contesting seats in the January 2022 polls.

When asked if his People’s Party for Democracy and Development is ready, Bishop Atherley had this to say.
