Work continues to repair economy after COVID blow

December 9th, 2021

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says her administration, despite its accomplishments, is now faced with having to repair the COVID-19 decimation of the island’s economy and way of life.

Ms. Mottley says the pandemic has impacted the provision of health and education services.

She says while the country has been able to take advantage of the availability of vaccines, Barbados has had a difficult time in convincing those who are vaccine hesitant or vaccine resistant.

While delivering the 16th Patrick A. M. Emmanuel Memorial Lecture ‘Forging a Nation: Confronting New Realities’, Ms. Mottley highlighted the importance of education reform and the need to return to in-person classes.
