CMC – Jamaica Police Sunday said law enforcement authorities will not be deterred by the murder of a policeman on Saturday night as they promised a “thorough investigation” of the killing.

“The Police will not be deterred by this latest attack. They will continue their focus on ridding communities of guns, gunmen and gangs who continue to cause death, pain and mayhem.

“Furthermore, we will be relentless in our pursuit in bringing those criminals to justice”, the Jamaica Constabulary Force said in a statement.

Police are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed one of their colleagues on Saturday night during a wake in St. Andrew, south east of Kingston.

Police said Constable Brian Martin, 22, was among five people, including a 10-year-old child, shot when gunmen opened fire at the wake.

The victims were rushed to hospital where the policeman, who was shot in the face, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The other people have been hospitalised.

The police said anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged to contact Crime Stop or the nearest police station.
