Barbados records 127 new COVID-19 cases

Positive COVID-19 cases recorded for Tuesday, December 7, stood at 127 (57 males and 70 females). The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1,206 tests.

The new cases consist of 22 people under the age of 18, and 105 who are 18 years and older.
There were 293 individuals in isolation facilities and 2,062 in home isolation.

Four people died from COVID-19. A 61-year-old woman, who succumbed to the viral illness at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility, and three men aged 61, 87, and 93, who passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department, and the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility. They were all unvaccinated.
As at December 7, there were 244 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 446,403 tests since February last year, and recorded 26,433 cases -12,598 males and 13,835 females – of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 154,177 (67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 138,719 (51.2 per cent of the total population or 60.7 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
