C’bean neighbours brace for Tammy

Hurricane warnings are now in place for several Caribbean islands including Guadeloupe, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat and St. Kitts and Nevis as Tammy moves towards the Eastern Caribbean.

Hurricane watches however are in in effect for Anguilla, St. Martin and St. Barts.

Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit whose country is under a tropical storm warning cut short his trip to Canada with fellow CARICOM leaders to return to Roseau.

He ordered all schools closed today and opened the island’s shelters.

Mr Skerrit has cautioned Dominicans not to take the system lightly.

As Montserrat braces for impact, Director of the Disaster Management Coordination Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Alvin Ryan encouraged residents to complete all disaster preparations.
