KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – A 22-year-old man accused of murdering a one-year-old child, was on Monday remanded into custody until June 25, this year when the preliminary inquiry into the charge of kidnapping and murder will begin.
Jeremiah Samuel appeared before Senior Magistrate, Colin John, at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court where the indictable charges were read out to him.
Samuel, who was not represented, is alleged to have kidnapped and murdered Janae Samuel-Wright.
He was not required to enter a plea.
The baby died after she was allegedly removed from her mother’s house and her throat slashed in the North Windward Community on February 10.
The suspect is said to have climbed through a window when the child’s mother was in the shower and slit his throat. The baby was rushed to a health facility, where he was pronounced dead.
