Barbadian cricketer Hayley Matthews scored a magnificent century in an all-round performance to lead Warriors Women to victory and the title over Falcons Women in the final of the FairBreak Global Invitational Women’s T20 2023 in Hong Kong yesterday.
The West Indies Women’s captain was adjudged player of the match for her 123 and then two for 14, that spurred her team to a 94-run win.
Batting first, Warriors Women scored 230 for four from their 20 overs.
Matthews, who was last out, smashed 11 fours and nine sixes during her knock that lasted only 52 balls.
In reply, Falcons Women could only muster 137 for eight.
Warriors Women lost only once during the tournament.
In the third place play-off, Barbadian Deandra Dottin scored 75-runs as her Barmy Army Women beat Spirit Women by 22-runs.
Scores there: Barmy Army women 147 for four; Spirit Women 125 for six.
