Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector Colin Jordan wants countries to ensure their education systems keep in step with the rapid pace of technology and advances in artificial intelligence.
He sees this as critical in ensuring workers are able to survive and compete.
Minister Jordan shared the view as he participated in a high-level roundtable organised by the Organisation of American States on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work.
Minister Jordan notes the world is at a stage where countries have to decide on how the technology will be used to their benefit and that of their citizens.
He believes there are opportunities for small island developing states to own some of the technology which can then be fashioned to solve challenges SIDS face.
