Association continues to advocate for menstrual leave

April 16, 2024

A local association continues to advocate for employers to grant female employees menstrual leave.

Executive Director of the Katrina Endometriosis and Women’s Health Association, Katrina Alleyne, says too many women are suffering in silence as they experience debilitating menstrual cycles monthly.

According to her, they need time away from work to cope and recover mentally and physically.

Ms. Alleyne was speaking at a pop up at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, to commemorate Endometriosis Awareness Month which coincided with a poverty campaign.

Through a collaboration with Massy Foundation, the association exhibited menstrual health products and spoke to shoppers about the importance of women’s reproductive health.

Women from marginalised communities also got the opportunity to sign up for monthly period poverty packages.
