Veteran bandleader Betty West has come out on top for this year’s Grand Kadooment.
She won the coveted Best Festival Designer – the Robert Weekes Award with her band “Soca in de Mas”, which also copped Large Band of the Year – Heritage.
Another veteran, Trevor Chase took the Small Band of the Year – Heritage prize with his “Vintage Ouutraje Collection”.
“Kaleidoscope Dreams”, led by Bryan Worrell of Colorz Entertainment, took Large Band of the Year – Party.
This year, the prize for Best Band on the Road was not awarded.
This after a shooting in Black Rock, St. Michael caused some bands to be rerouted, which prevented them from facing the judges located at the Downes and Wilson Funeral Home, in Eagle Hall, St. Michael.
