A call for Barbadians to play their part in helping to achieve zero waste today, the International Day of Zero Waste.
Minister of the Environment and National Beautification, Adrian Forde wants citizens to be guided by the five Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Recover.
He is challenging citizens to take reusable bags when shopping, use reusable flasks and bottles to refill and consider whether an item being discarded can be donated, repaired or upcycled.
In his message to mark the day, he told Barbadians any effort made today to reduce waste is not meaningless as the country continues to make the necessary changes, both big and small to protect and preserve the environment.
