Barbados has welcomed news the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is making over 600 million dollars available to the country.
113 million US is being provided through the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) in addition to 189 million US, through the Resilience and Sustainability Trust.
Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley is pleased Barbados is among the first in the world to benefit from the recently established Trust.
The funds are being made available to help Barbados maintain and strengthen macroeconomic stability, support the structural reform agenda, and increase resilience to climate change.
Ms. Mottley singled out Senior Economic Advisor, Dr. Kevin Greenidge who accompanied her at a function at the Nightengale Children’s Home and recognised his achievements in this regard.
