The Barbados Boxing Association (BBA) will celebrate International Boxing Day on Friday with a number of activities.
These include a visual presentation to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and a number of physical activities on Sunday at Brownes Beach.
The AIBA International Boxing Day was rescheduled from July 22nd to August 27th this year.
It connects the new date with the first edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships, which was held in Havana, Cuba in 1974.
Chairperson of the Athletes’ Commission of the BBA national boxer Kimberly Gittens says Sunday’s activities, which will follow all COVID-19 protocols will run from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
President of the BBA, Dr. Mellissa Branford-Jones says the Association is on a mission to find more creative ways to improve the visibility of the sport on the island.
