Call for clarity on Labour Clauses Concessions Act

Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Trisha Tannis is seeking clarity on amendments made to the Labour Clauses Concessions Act.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced during Monday’s Budget that effective January 1, 2025 all beneficiaries of tax concession rebates or other exemptions issued prior to that date will have to reapply to the Ministry of Finance for the grant of those concessions.

Ms. Mottley says the basis on which concessions will be given favourable consideration will be limited to sectoral legislative provisions.

In light of the recent development, Ms. Tannis is asking about the connection between the concessionary amendments and the act.
