The National Council on Substance Abuse is suggesting the time has come for new cross-sector approaches to address the drug problem in Barbados.
This comes as the results of the 2022 BARDIN study released yesterday, show marijuana continues to be the drug of choice for those in treatment.
The Council’s Research Officer Laura Foster, says officials should consider executing a national household survey to get a full picture of the prevalence of marijuana use.
She also wants to see the creation of a national employment assistance to cater to those unemployed individuals who are coming forward for drug treatment.
Ms. Foster has also made a renewed call for businesses to implement workplace drug policies.
