Despite the absence of a Crop Over festival this year yet again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation has been able to keep the spirit of the festival alive in 2021.
It has done so through its Soca Showdown competition where members of the public were able to cast their votes for their favourite artistes in the kaiso and soca categories.
After weeks of preliminaries, it’s down to the finale, and the winners will be announced on tonight’s final Festival Stage Showdown.
It will be carried live on CBC TV8 at 9:03 p.m.
Marketing Specialist, Nicole Collins says 12 soca stars and 12 kaiso champions will be showcased followed by the big announcement of the winner of the grand prize.
Ms. Collins says the response to the promotion has been good as Barbadians have shown their support for their favorite artistes.
It was also two-fold as the promotion brought back fond memories for many.
